About this exercise
Matching Objects to Words
This exercise practices the link between seeing an everyday object and recalling its name. The game shows one object at a time and offers three word choices — a direct way to rebuild naming and word-retrieval skills.
How this supports therapy
Strengthening Word Retrieval
- Practices naming — a core skill affected by aphasia
- Builds confidence in matching images to written words
- Supports self-paced repetition with immediate feedback
Tips for caregivers
“Give them time to study the picture before choosing.”
Let them study the object for as long as they need. Naming isn't a race — there's no timer.
If they choose incorrectly, the correct word is highlighted. This is a learning moment, not a failure.
